TBI says 18 arrested on drug charges in 3 counties

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities say 18 people have been arrested on drug-related charges in three counties.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says those arrested are charged with illegally selling marijuana, cocaine and prescription pills in Benton, Carroll and Henry counties.

The TBI says a multi-county investigation that began June 2012 targeted people selling controlled substances in and around Carroll County. The Carroll County defendants were indicted by a grand jury on May 6 and the Henry County and Benton County residents had warrants issued for their arrest.

Agencies involved in the investigation and arrests include the TBI, the 24th Judicial District Drug Task Force, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Huntingdon Police Department and the sheriff's departments of Benton, Carroll, Decatur and Henry counties.
