NEW ORLEANS (WSMV/WDSU) -

Police in New Orleans said 18 people, including two children were shot Sunday afternoon during a Mother's Day parade.

According to NBC affiliate WDSU, the gunfire happened at the corner of Frenchmen and North Villere at about 2:20 p.m.

A news release says that the wounded included 10 men, six women, a boy and a girl. The children were both 10 years old.

Many of the victims were grazed and most of the wounds were not life-threatening.

The FBI says that the shootings appear to be street violence, and not terrorism-related.

Police said the situation was a multiple shooting, not a mass shooting. Officers are looking for three gunmen.

There is no word on a motive yet, but police are calling the situation "brazen" because there were 10 officers patrolling in the vicinity.
