Frost threatens sensitive plants, crops

Posted: Updated:

A frost advisory is in effect for most of Tennessee and Kentucky until 8 a.m. Monday.

This is expected to be a damaging late season frost with record-breaking low temperatures.

In many areas, temperatures may drop into the mid and upper 30s. Areas in the Upper Cumberland Plateau may briefly drop to freezing around daybreak.

A frost advisory means that frost is likely.

Frost and cold temperatures may damage unprotected vegetation. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.

If you're not able to bring sensitive plants indoors, a sheet or other covering may help protect them from frost and cold temperatures.

Temperatures will warm up very quickly Monday morning, leading to an afternoon high of 70.
