NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Metro Police have arrested and charged a driver who struck and critically injured a woman on Broadway early Saturday.

Officers said Ryan D. Moy, 23, of Morton Grove, Illinois, was driving his Honda Accord outbound on Broadway at 1:40 a.m. when he hit Angela Riley, 25, of Decatur, Georgia.

Riley was critically injured and rushed to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment, police said.

Officers said Moy fled the scene, but an eyewitness was able to provide a license plate number.

Police later spotted Moy's vehicle speeding in the area of Broadway and 12th. Officers stopped him, and noticed he smelled of alcohol and had watery eyes.

Police said Moy's performance on field sobriety tests indicated impairment.

Before going to jail, police said Moy was taken to General Hospital for the taking of a blood sample, which will be analyzed by the TBI Crime Laboratory for alcohol and drug content.

Moy was released Saturday morning after posting $16,000 bond.
