NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A suspect has been arrested in the death of a west Tennessee man at a north Nashville motel earlier this month.

Eric Lozano, 31, of Lyford, TX, is charged with criminal homicide after the body of Mitchel Moreno, 52, was discovered inside a room at the Cumberland Inn on West Trinity Lane on May 9.

A maintenance man entered the room just after 1 p.m. and found Moreno's body. The victim is from the Madison County community of Denmark.

Police said Moreno had been renting the room since the week before.

Investigators believe Moreno died from blunt-force trauma during a struggle inside the room. He was last seen the night before and was known to visit a nearby truck stop.

Deputy United States marshals and Texas state troopers arrested Lozano, an over-the-road truck driver, Monday just north of McAllen, TX.

The motive in Moreno's murder remains under investigation, police said.
