OTTAWA COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The man whom police say killed his estranged wife and then tried to take his own life was arraigned Thursday afternoon on charges of aggravated murder.

Randall Ross has been in intensive care at a Toledo hospital recovering from two self-inflicted gunshot wounds to the head earlier this spring. He was released Wednesday night and immediately taken into custody by the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office. He was then taken to a Port Clinton hospital and put in a critical care unit.

The sheriff's office is looking for a long term care facility to take him. Ottawa County is now responsible for his medical care and costs.

Ross is charged with aggravated murder after fatally shooting his estranged wife, Amy, in a Carroll Township home March 27. According to Ottawa County Sheriff Stephen Levorchick, the Fremont couple was married but going through a divorce.

Ross was arraigned via Internet video from his hospital bed Thursday afternoon. An Ottawa County Municipal Court judge ordered him to be held on a $10 million cash bond.

His next court hearing is May 17.
