Rescuers in Lawrence County wasted no time reaching a family of four trapped in their pickup in the middle of a raging creek Saturday.
Lawrenceburg Fire Chief Jay Moore said the driver attempted to cross the low water bridge on Mount Ararat Road around 10 a.m.
The father and child were able to get to safety, but the mother and a 7-year-old child were still stuck.
Crews with the Lawrenceburg and Ethridge Fire Departments used a ladder truck to reach the mom and 7-year-old within minutes.
No one was injured, Moore said.
Rescuers said incidents like this reinforce the important safety message of not driving where you cannot see the road surface.
