Heavy smoke causes dog food factory evacuation

Posted: Updated:

Heavy smoke caused the evacuation of a dog food factory Wednesday morning in south Nashville.

The problem occurred around 4 a.m. in the 3000 block of Trousdale Drive at a Purina plant.

The facility was briefly evacuated, but no injuries were reported.

Officials said an elevator that is used to lift grain experienced a problem, causing the smoke.

All workers were allowed to return to the plant by 5:30 a.m.
