Participants awaiting refunds from canceled charity event

Posted: Updated:

Some women believe a breast cancer fundraiser has been ruined by some dirty dealings. The Go Girl Mud Run was canceled, but those who signed up say they have never been given a refund.

Karen Duke said she paid $71 to take part in the charity event, which was canceled in November 2012 - and the rescheduled event canceled again this month - but participants have not been able to contact anyone for answers.

"It's disappointing. You take your time and want to put money into a good cause and register for a good event, and now I don't know where the money went," she said.

Duke said she checked with her bank, and the $71 registration fee was taken from her account.

A letter on the group's website promises "full refunds," but Duke said, so far, she and others haven't seen a penny.
