Honduran man charged with raping Columbia child

COLUMBIA, TN (WSMV) -

A man in Columbia is accused of raping an 8-year-old in Maury County, according to the Columbia Daily Herald.

Yelsin Cruz, 20, a native of Honduras, was charged with child rape Thursday. He's accused of assaulting his girlfriend's daughter.

A doctor alerted authorities after the mother took the girl to the hospital.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said he is in the U.S. illegally. Cruz is in custody with a bond set at $750,000.
