Investigators say a man shot and killed his wife Sunday at their home in an exclusive Brentwood neighborhood before leading authorities on an overnight manhunt, but they are still working to determine why.

Randy Maidens, 42, is charged in the death of his wife, Dr. Rachael Maidens, and officials have now released more information into the subsequent search that stretched well into Monday morning.

Randy Maidens was arrested when he returned home to the crime scene at The Governor's Club, but police knew he hadn't gone far, as he apparently did not turn off his cell phone right away after leaving home on foot the night before.

Police said they do not have any knowledge of previous domestic violence between the couple, but they received a welfare check call at the couple's home just before 6 p.m. Sunday, where Dr. Rachael Maidens was found shot to death.

The couple's 2-year-old child was found unhurt inside the home.

Many neighbors at The Governor's Club have expressed praise and support for the job police did in keeping everyone safe during the overnight manhunt.

Now, a private candlelight vigil is being organized for neighbors Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Maidens' driveway. Speakers will include friends, law enforcement officials and perhaps a local minister.

Randy Maidens remains jailed on $2.5 million bond.
