NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Rev. Jesse Jackson delivered the spring commencement address at Tennessee State University in Nashville on Saturday.

Jackson, founder and president of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition and an internationally known civil rights leader, spoke at the graduation ceremony outside the newly renovated Hale Stadium.

Jackson told students to "Keep hope alive," as part of his speech, paying homage to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the 1963 march in Washington, D.C., where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech.

TSU President Glenda Baskin Glover said in a statement that Jackson's message will be extremely powerful as the nation commemorates the anniversary of the historical event.
