Lower Broadway reopens after bomb scare

Posted: Updated:

Metro police have reopened a busy area of downtown Nashville Wednesday evening after a suspicious package was deemed to be safe.

Several blocks of Lower Broadway were closed near Second Avenue after 5:30 p.m. after a witness reported seeing an abandoned backpack near Hard Rock Cafe.

After securing the area, police said the backpack was left by a homeless person and didn't pose any harm.

Sidewalks and streets were back open shortly after 6 p.m.
