The city of Springfield is easing up on its restrictions to have alcohol near the town square.
On Tuesday night, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted to reduce the distance that alcohol can be served from a church.
The law used to restrict alcohol sales within 300 feet of a church, but it's been changed to 250 feet.
The change means some Springfield restaurants on the town square can now serve alcohol.
Supporters hope the change will attract more people to downtown restaurants.
