The attack in Boston set the tone for much of Monday night's Predators game.
It was Hometown Heroes night, and first responders were among those recognized.
There was a moment of silence before the game to remember those killed or injured in the tragedy at the Boston Marathon.
Local veterans were also honored.
Former Army Staff Sgt. Stephanie Luke was presented with a Predators jersey by the team's cheerleaders. "As a veteran, you can never be too thankful for all the people you serve, and just to get something like this back, it really means a lot. So I'm very thankful to the Predators and everyone who made this possible for me, " Luke said.
Wounded veteran Ben Maenza was also honored with a ride on the zamboni, which was something he had wanted to do ever since he had seen Predators games on television.
