COOKEVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A man is accused of pointing a shotgun in the face of a taxi driver and forcing him to go on a terrifying ride.

The cab driver said he told the passenger he could not bring the shotgun inside his cab, but the man still said, "You will take me where I want to go."

The driver said the passenger, identified as Kenneth Carter, 56, pointed the shotgun at him and forced him to drive to the Willow Park apartments.

Once they arrived, Carterallegedly began looking for a man and woman, but he was not able to find them.

The cab driver was able to signal a bystander to call for help. However, Carter then demanded the driver return him to Carter's house.

When they arrived, he is accused of ordering the driver to block a car that had been parked in the driveway. Carter then put the shotgun in the driver's face, said police.

Two Cookeville police officers arrived at the location shortly thereafter.

Carter was taken into custody on aggravated assault and aggravated kidnapping charges.
