MOUNT PLEASANT, TN (WSMV) -

A Mt. Pleasant police officer was arrested Friday in connection with the rape of a 16-year-old boy.

Officer Jason Paul Jones, 25, of Columbia, was booked and released on $75,000 bond. He faces charges of statutory rape by an authority figure.

The report said Columbia police recently received a tip about sexual activity between the officer and teen.

Jones has worked for his department for about two years, including time as a reserve officer, said Mt. Pleasant Police Chief Tommy Goetz.
