NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - This is Gold Star Wives Day in Tennessee.
Gov. Bill Haslam and state Veterans Affairs Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder announced April 5 as a day to honor spouses of military service members who died on duty or as the result of service-connected disabilities.
Grinder commended the Gold Star wives' continued commitment to support veterans and other grieving survivors, saying their compassion has created an enduring legacy for fallen service members.
