MOBILE, AL (RNN) - Two months after it was towed to shore, tugboats once again captured a crippled Carnival cruise liner and brought it to port.
The Carnival Triumph broke away from its moorings Wednesday after a storm blew through Mobile, AL. Winds exceeding 70 miles per hour sent the ship adrift.
The ship was secured and brought to dock at the Mobile Cruise Terminal, moored by lines. Tugboats remain alongside Triumph as a precaution.
The ship has been docked in Mobile, being repaired at the BAE Systems Shipyard since an engine room fire in February left the ship powerless, stranding its passengers in the Gulf of Mexico.
The powerful winds also blew two people into the water during the storm. Steve Hoffman of the Mobile Fire-Rescue said wind knocked over a guard shack, blowing it and the two occupants into the water.
One person was rescued from the water, however the Coast Guard continues to search for the other. The missing occupant is an employee of BAE Systems.
Mobile Fire-Rescuse brought in search dogs to help find the missing employee.
The cruise ship had nothing to do with the incident.
But in a statement, Carnival said "Our thoughts and prayers are with the missing shipyard employee and the family."
Around 600 crew members and 200 contractors were onboard Triumph at the time it broke away. All have been accounted for and are safe.
Multiple tug boats responded to the scene and Carnival representatives acknowledged the incident on a corporate Twitter account.
"Due to strong winds in Mobile, Carnival Triumph, which was docked @ Mobile shipyard, broke away from its moorings. US Coast Guard is on site," @CarnivalPR tweeted at 2:43 p.m. CST.
Early reports indicate the Triumph sustained damage to its right rear, where a large gash was seen far above the waterline.
The ship may have hit the dredge Wheeler owned by the U.S. Army Corps on Engineers.
Carnival Triumph docked on Feb. 14 after a less-than stellar experience for its roughly 3,000 passengers. The now infamous cruise ship sat disabled for days at seas without power and with no working waste removal system.
People on the boat complained of overflowing toilets, food shortages and foul odors. Triumph had to be pulled to shore by tugboat, often going as slow as 1 or 2 miles per hour.
