Goat's sounds being mistaken for human cries for help

COOKEVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Putnam County man called police after he heard a cry for help, but it turned out not to be a human's voice, according to the Herald Citizen.

The man said he called police because he couldn't figure out where the sounds were coming from.

An officer showed up at a home on Edwards Lane, where the caller thought he heard someone screaming.

The Cookeville police officer heard the scream, too, so they started searching. The officer later found the sounds were actually coming from a goat in the area.

Police said this is at least the second time that residents in the same area have mistaken this goat's cry for a human in distress.

Officers had responded to Broad Street a few months ago for the same kind of call. In that case, the goat had escaped and was tangled in the woods behind a home.
