An Overton County man is charged in connection with last week's beating death of a Jackson County resident.

Michael Huffer, 33, of Monroe, Tenn., who is currently being held in the Overton County jail on unrelated charges, is being charged with one count of criminal homicide.

On Friday, Ronnie Lambert, 51, was found beaten to death in his home on Morrison Creek Road in Gainesboro.

A police investigation revealed that Huffer went to Lambert's home, robbed him of prescription pills and beat him on the face, head and upper body, killing him.

Huffer will be transferred to the Jackson County jail and held without bond.
