NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Metro police officer has been decommissioned after he crashed his personal vehicle Friday and was charged with driving under the influence, weapon and implied consent charges.

Officer Craig Reese, 33, was driving his 2009 Nissan Altima when the vehicle struck a utility pole on Madison Creek Road in Goodlettsville, TN, at 8:40 p.m. Friday.

Reese was taken by ambulance to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and discharged from the hospital Sunday afternoon.

Goodlettsville police said that Reese smelled of alcohol, refused to submit to a breath/blood test, was carrying one gun and had three others in the car.

Charges were filed against Reese in Sumner County.

Reese, a seven-year veteran of the police department, was decommissioned Saturday morning  and is now under administrative investigation.
