CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - High School Bass Fishing Teams are being started all across the United States advancing the sport of bass fishing all the way to a high school national championship. The teams compete for their share of available scholarship money made available by the FLW Student Bass Angler Federation, which sanctions the high school teams.
In Tennessee, this years' state high school championship will be held June 1st on Nick-A-Jack Lake where sanctioned teams from all areas of Tennessee will compete for the honor of state champions and a trip to the national championship.
In our area, there are several high schools that already have teams. These include Soddy Daisy, Rhea County, Grundy County, and Silverdale Baptist Academy (SBA) is the newest for the 2012-2013 season.
Silverdale Baptist Academy, coached by veteran pro angler Brent Brady, has posted a 17 member team for the 2012-2013 season. Brent says, "it is our goal to give these kids a chance to get and on the lake and to develop enthusiasm for the outdoors while teaching kids the skills of bass fishing on a competitive level and re-enforcing the ethics of sportsmanship."
Silverdale Baptist Academy fishing team tournament schedule is as follows:
1. March 29th on Guntersville
2. April 20th on Nick-A-Jack (SBA vs. Rhea County)
3. May 4th on Chickamauga (Sportsman's Warehouse Tournament)
