NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
Mitchell Deli proves each day that there's a hunger in Nashville for a quality sandwich. While newlyweds David and Wendy Mitchell weren't sure it would work, they got their answer on day one.
"Our first day we were opened, we sold out of food and had to close the next day, because we had no food to serve," David Mitchell said.
For a first day, it was a nice problem to have. But it never happened again. For five years now, Mitchell's has been full of delicious food and happy customers seven days a week.
"Yeah, I never thought it would be this busy. It's great that we have this much business," David Mitchell said.
The deli specializes in sandwiches, but you can also get breakfast, soup or enjoy the serve-yourself salad bar.
David Mitchell put some pork in his Hillwood High School pedigree by hiring top Nashville chefs to help and saying, "keep the customers coming."
That's all while his wife, Wendy, works the numbers in a back office - not quite as savvy with Swiss and cheddar as she is dollars and cents.
"I could tell you, but that's not my territory. I'm not the food lady," she said.
Happily married now for a year-and-a-half, David and Wendy Mitchell are compatible as pastrami on rye. And sweetest of all, as long as they run this deli, they'll always have lunch plans.
You will find Mitchell Deli at 1402 McGavock Pike in Inglewood. For hours, menus and more information, visit: http://www.mitchelldeli.com/.
