Victim identified in fatal Briley Parkway wreck - WSMV Channel 4

The woman who died in a single-vehicle wreck Tuesday afternoon on Briley Parkway has been identified as a 65-year-old from Madison.

Paulette Utley was traveling westbound near Clarksville Highway about 1:30 p.m. when her 2009 Buick LaCrosse crossed both lanes of traffic and struck the center retaining wall.

Investigators are unsure what caused the vehicle to veer into the wall.

Utley was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Police said she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Westbound lanes of Briley Parkway reopened about 5 p.m.
