SAVANNAH, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities say a Savannah couple has been charged with murder in the death of the husband's mother.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Tuesday that 32-year-old Christopher Knight and his wife, 18-year-old Tonya Knight, are being held in Hardin County Jail on a first-degree murder charge in the death of 71-year-old Peggy Alexander.
The TBI says Christopher Knight told police that he found his mother dead in their home on Sunday. The TBI says investigators determined that the son killed his mother earlier that morning.
Investigators say Alexander's relationship with the couple was strained and she expressed a desire to move and change her will in regards to her son.
A Hardin County general sessions court clerk says lawyer and bond information for the Knights was not available Tuesday.
