COOKEVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
A teenager who was home alone saw a stranger on his property and shot at him Tuesday afternoon, according to authorities.
The 18-year-old told police he saw a stranger out by the shed at his parents' house on Mirandy Road, the Herald-Citizen reported.
He told police he got scared a pulled out a .410 bird shotgun.
The teen told police he went outside to see what the man wanted and the intruder pulled a pistol and aimed it at the teen.
The 18-year-old shot first and the intruder ran off.
Authorities said the man was wearing a dark - possibly black - hoodie, and blue jeans.
Sheriff's officials ordered an extra watch patrol for the area near Mirandy Road.
