TULLAHOMA, TN (WSMV) -

A fire Sunday evening at an aerospace facility in Tullahoma caused a potentially dangerous acid spill, say local officials.

A machine overheated at the UTS Aerospace Systems facility around 5:30 p.m.

That started a fire, which caused acid to spill out of the machine into a retaining area.

The sprinkler system kept the fire contained until emergency crews arrived.

"We just hate this for the employer. They're one of the biggest employers in Tullahoma, so we're just very glad to see there are no injuries out here and everything's under control," said Winston Brooks of the Tullahoma Police Department.

Hazmat crews were on the scene late Sunday night to finish cleaning up the spill.

Officials said there was no danger to the public at any time.
