Preds' Colin Wilson embraces goal-scoring role

Posted: Updated:

Colin Wilson has really stepped up his game this season for the Nashville Predators.

In his fourth year in the NHL, 23-year-old Wilson currently leads the Preds in goals and total points and said he finally feels like the game is slowing down for him to excel at this level.

"When I was younger, I was always trying to get bigger and faster and stronger," Wilson said. "Now I can't get any bigger, but I can get faster. It's just learning the game - that's it. That's how you're going to improve at this level."

Wilson said he knew when he was drafted that he could come in and put up some points, but he sees the game differently now that he has a few years of experience.

"It's my fourth year now, and it's a completely different mindset. You see everything differently," Wilson said. "Obviously everybody will be different at 23 than they are at 19. Maybe I'm not that mature, but I'm a little bit more mature."

As for where he might be a little immature, Wilson said it could be his sense of humor.

"I'm pretty light-hearted, pretty laid back all the time, like laughing," he said.
