Fire kills Henry County couple

Posted: Updated:

Investigators in Henry County said a married couple died in a fire Thursday night.

The Henry County Sheriff's Office said 59-year-old Gary and Frankie Brady were killed by a fire in their trailer on Old McKenzie Highway.

Firefighters said the bodies were found near the trailer's back door around 9 p.m.

The Henry County Sheriff and state bomb and arson team are investigating, but no foul play is suspected.

"I saw flames. I saw a lot of flames. I've never seen anything like it," said neighbor Kwintia Parks.

Neighbors said the couple had been together for more than 40 years.

Officials believe the fire started in the living room and spread. They believe the home had smoke detectors, but they're not sure if they were working.

"I would imagine the smoke overcame the victims pretty rapidly well before the fire department got here," said Henry County Sheriff Monte Belew. "It's just a tragedy."
