Local design student has worldwide fashion following

The small O'More College of Design in downtown Franklin is home to a big-time design student.

At just 21 years old, Laura Zwanziger is considered a leader in women's fashion trends and people can't wait to see what she finds stylish next.

Zwanziger is one of the most popular college students in America and has nearly 5 million fans on the internet picture-posting sensation Pinterest - giving her a bigger Pinterest following than Vogue, Cosmo and nearly every fashion magazine in the world combined.

"It's intimidating and exciting at the same time," Zwanziger said.

Zwanziger ranks number 11 in the world in total Pinterest followers, a fact the president of her college finds a little overwhelming.

"My first reaction was somebody made a mistake," said O'More President Dr. K. Mark Hilliard, laughing. "It's amazing if she can reach out on the internet."

Fans around the world love Zwanziger's sense of fashion and are eager to see what she finds daring, sexy, elegant, whimsical and romantic.

Now, Zwanziger is getting ready for a much smaller audience as she prepares her senior project and fashion show.

She even shared a couple of her dresses with Channel 4 News, something her nearly 5 million fans hadn't even seen.

"I haven't pinned any of my stuff yet, but I want to start showing more of myself and introduce myself to my following," Zwanziger said.

Zwanziger, unlike so many fashion designers, does not want to move to New York after she graduates. Instead, she wants to stay in Nashville and help keep its cool factor growing.
