NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
Motorcyclists age 21 and older could have the option of riding without a helmet in Tennessee if a bill passes this week.
The "Motorcyclist Liberty Restoration Act" is expected to go before the Transportation Committees in the House and Senate on Wednesday.
While many riders think the decision should be up to them, opponents argue this move would be a major safety risk that would drastically increase the number of motorcyclist injuries and death.
Tennessee motorcyclists have been required by law to wear helmets since 1967.
