NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Drivers in downtown Nashville came close to colliding head-on with a car going the wrong way.

Police said the car was going the wrong way through an intersection and traveling with the trunk open.

Officers spotted the driver, Eloy Delos Orozco, 35, at the ramp of Fourth and Second avenues.

Cars were swerving and stopping to get out of the way. The driver also ran a red light.

The vehicle wouldn't pull over for police and made it onto Interstate 40.

According to the arrest warrant, the car was traveling on the shoulder of the interstate. The vehicle nearly hit a parked car on the shoulder and finally stopped.

Police said when Orozco was pulled over, he smelled like alcohol and couldn't stand to do a field sobriety test.

Orozco was taken to the Baptist Hospital emergency room where he took a blood test for driving under the influence. Orozco was charged with evading arrest.
