A huge crowd of gun owners filled a park in Mt. Juliet on Saturday afternoon to oppose President Barack Obama's gun control plan.
Organizer Jason Welker said the goal of the gathering was to unite gun owners behind a singular message of protecting our Second Amendment rights.
"We hope citizens will become more vocal and politically active in regards to any changes in gun control laws," Welker said.
Attendees were encouraged to sign a petition that will be delivered to U.S. senators representing their states.
The "Day of Liberty" rally was held at Charlie Daniels Park at noon.
Obama's gun control proposal included bans on the sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
