Preds' Barry Trotz now longest tenured NHL coach

Predators Head Coach Barry Trotz is now the longest-tenured coach in the National Hockey League with more than 1,000 career games in Nashville.

Trotz has coached 1,083 Preds games, beginning in the team's inaugural season in 1998, and has more than 500 victories.

"He's a darn good coach and a successful coach," said Preds Analyst Terry Crisp. "He and (General Manager) David Poile came here together, and they had stability. They had a plan, stuck to the plan and brought in a good staff. One of the key things Trotzy does is wins, which is the most important thing for a coach."

Trotz is also known for rolling with the punches when the team seems to have struggles.

"As humans we're not going to be at our best every night," Trotz said. "It's just part of human nature that you're not always going to be at your best. And the trick to being a really good pro is you know how to get through that and still come with a professional work ethic and all those details that you always do."

"Every player that comes here, they buy into Coach Trotz's system," Crisp said.
