Driver found with drugs near Metro school

Posted: Updated:

A routine traffic stop resulted in a drug bust near a Metro middle school.

Police stopped a suspicious car after it pulled out of a gas station on Heritage Drive.

This location is within 1,000 feet of Madison Middle School.

Police searched the car and found a bag of marijuana on the driver, Troy Stafford. Several more bags were located in the car, totaling about 67 grams.

Stafford was arrested and charged on felony drug offenses.

Those charges were elevated because he was in a drug-free school zone when he was taken into custody.
