A man suspected of robbing a Rutherford County market on Thursday was arrested within 14 minutes of the crime after an alert clerk jotted down the license plate number of the getaway car.

Jonathan Ownby, 31, of Esquire Court, was charged with aggravated robbery of Lascassas Market after being apprehended at his home, said Detective Jim Tramel.

Detective Sgt. Dan Goodwin said Ownby fled the market with cash and a package of cigarettes.

As the suspect left, the clerk wrote down the license plate number of the getaway car and gave the information to a deputy. Dispatch gave deputies the owner's name and address.

A detective responded quickly to the address where he found a car matching the description of the suspect's car parked at his home on Esquire Court off Compton Road.

Authorities arrested Ownby and later charged him in the theft.
