Houghton Lake woman charged with embezzlement over $100K

GLADWIN, MI (WNEM) -

A Houghton Lake woman is in trouble after being charged with embezzlement from a Gladwin County business.

Heather Lynn Peer, 37, allegedly stole more than $100,000 from Earl's Building Supply. Peer was an employee of the company.

The charges carry a punishment of up to 20 years in prison if she is found guilty.

Peer also faces a charge of using a computer to commit a felony, which is also punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

A preliminary exam is scheduled for Feb. 25 in 80th District Court.
