Henry Co. sheriff dodges truck, shoots vehicle

Posted: Updated:

The sheriff of Henry County was forced to shoot a vehicle on Monday after he said the driver tried to run him over.

The incident occurred after Sheriff Monte Belew and two deputies tracked a stolen truck to a logging road, according to a report in the Paris Post-Intelligencer.

When police spotted two men driving toward them in the truck, the sheriff ordered them to stop, but the driver headed toward Belew.

The sheriff had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit and then shot out a tire.

The driver, Brandon Gream, and his passenger, Marvin Long, were arrested a short time later and are now facing several charges.
