The leader of the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency has offered his resignation after more than a decade in charge.

Executive Director Phil Ryan said in a statement Monday that "after much thought, I feel now is a good time for me to pursue other career opportunities."

Ryan took over the agency in 2002, and his career in MDHA spans more than 21 years.

MDHA works to redevelop neighborhoods, renovate historic properties and serves more than 28,000 Nashville residents with opportunities for low-cost housing.

The agency's board of commissioners are set to consider Ryan's resignation at a meeting Tuesday.
