Police in Clarksville say they have a man in custody who is accused of being involved in a shooting at a party late last month.
The incident happened in an apartment in the 100 block of Westfield Court on Jan. 31. Officers responded to several reports of shots fired at around 10:30 p.m.
When officers arrived they found a chaotic scene with multiple victims and witnesses in and outside an apartment. Officers found one man inside the apartment with a gunshot wound to the leg. Another man, 27 years old, who had jumped from the balcony, was found outside on the ground with a gunshot wound to his leg and also a hip injury. There was also a 18 year old woman who had sustained an injury to her foot after jumping from the balcony.
Police say, according to witnesses there were several people partying inside the apartment. They were playing games, drinking, and some were partaking in marijuana. At some point, two men possibly known to some of the people inside of the apartment, entered through an unlocked door carrying a handgun and a rifle. The men started yelling at the partygoers, people started to scatter, shots were fired, some ran out the door, and others jumped from the balcony or out a window.
When officers arrived, the two men, who were identified as 23-year-old's Martavious Briggs and Marcus Briggs had already left the area.
On Feb. 10, around 12:30 a.m., police received a tip that Martavious Briggs was in a club on Walker Street. When police arrived, they found Briggs inside the club and took him in custody without incident.
Briggs was booked into the Montgomery County Jails on two counts of especially aggravated burglary on a bond of $200,000.
Police are still looking for Marcus Briggs.
