Jury deliberations continue for Hickman County Commissioner

CENTERVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A jury will continue to deliberate the case of Hickman County Commissioner James Hassell on Friday.

Hassell was once convicted of making moonshine, which is a felony.

Because of the felony conviction, he would not be allowed to run for office under Tennessee law, prosecutors argued.

Hassell's defense team said he had never been told he could not seek office and did not knowingly violate the law.

Hassell is charged with voter fraud.
