A crash early Thursday morning on Interstate 24 eastbound injured two people, one very seriously.

Police said a 22-year-old woman lost control of her Dodge Caliber and crashed into the retaining wall near Bell Road around 1 a.m.

The car was then hit from behind by an Impala.

Police said the young woman was thrown from her car and into the street.  Her injuries are described as critical.

A passenger in the Impala, a 74-year-old woman, was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center but she is expected to recover.

All lanes of the interstate were back open by 6:30 a.m.
