Local stores seeing run on ammunition

Posted: Updated:

Guns and ammunition are flying off store shelves, as gun owners are afraid that new restrictive gun laws are coming in response to the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.

Walmart has announced that it is limiting customers to three boxes of ammunition per person, per day. Doug Williams, manager at Dick Williams Gun Shop in Saginaw, says he's had to limit purchases as well.

"The .223 we've been having to limit, certain handgun calibers," Williams said.

Williams says customers are having trouble finding ammunition, and that has resulted in "a little bit of panic buying," but once Congress acts, he expects ammunition supply and demand to return to normal levels.
