FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Two state troopers from the Flint post were unharmed after a man shot at them during a routine stop in Flint on Thursday.

The troopers were attempted to stop the man on the street but the suspect then tried to run away. While fleeing, the man then fired a single shot at the troopers, missing both. The gun was fired from a .45 caliber handgun.

Officers with the Flint Police Department assisted the troopers in apprehending the individual. The suspect, a 32-year-old Flint man, is in custody at this time. The incident happened on East Ridgeway Avenue, near Fulton Street. The area is a block north of Pierson Road, near Saginaw Street.

State police are hoping to charge the man with assault with intent to commit murder.
