3 children found living in 'abominable' conditions
MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -
Two children are now in state custody after sheriff's deputies in Rutherford County found them and a third child living in what they call "abominable" conditions.
Local authorities arrested Travis Krueger, 24, and his girlfriend, Jennifer Winstanley, 22, on charges of reckless endangerment.
The couple has a 5-year-old boy and two 3-year-old boys.
Deputies said the smell inside the house on Cedar Street was deplorable.
They said dog waste covered every floor, and one of the children was walking around wearing no shoes or socks.
"Nearly the entire floor inside the residence was covered in dog feces and saturated with urine. I observed one of the children walking around the house, through the feces, with no shoes or socks on," deputy Joshua Anderson said in a news release.
Authorities said Krueger is the father of one of the 3-year old boys. That child is now with his mother.
Paramedics examined the two boys. The Department of Children's Services took the other 3-year-old and his 5-year-old brother, who was at school, into state custody.
Pet adoption and welfare services took 11 dogs from the house and cited the couple for animal cruelty.
The sheriff's department also issued an order that no one should enter the home.
