The powerful storms that moved through Middle Tennessee this week left a lot of damage behind, and the state attorney general's office is warning residents to avoid potential repair scams.
If you plan to hire someone to make repairs, be on the lookout for some very important things.
First, officials advise to make sure the person you're hiring has a valid state license and is insured.
Next, ask lots of questions and get references from people you trust before hiring someone to do work for you.
Don't pay the full balance until the job is complete.
And if you think there's a problem, make sure you take photos right away and document the issues.
