SHELBYVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Two Shelbyville men lost their lives in a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 64 in Bedford County early Sunday, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

State troopers said Nathan Doyle Pugh, 29, the driver, and Benjamin D. Ray, 28, both of Shelbyville, were killed.

Investigators said Pugh died at the scene and Ray died later at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

The surviving back seat passenger, Andrew Clanton, 22, remained in critical but stable condition at Vanderbilt, hospital officials said.

State troopers said Pugh lost control of his Toyota Tundra pickup around 1 a.m. just east of the Highway 130 intersection.

The vehicle ran off the road, went down a ditch line, struck a culvert, crossed a private driveway and continued down the ditch line, state troopers said.

Investigators said Pugh had been drinking, and it was unknown whether the passengers were.
