Firefighters discovered heavy flames coming from the downstairs apartment window when they arrived on the scene of a fire call at 1710 East Northfield Boulevard Sunday morning.

According to fire investigators, there were residents at home both upstairs and downstairs in Apartment Building O when the fire broke out around 9 a.m.

Crews were able to knock the fire down quickly and no injuries were reported.

The fire damage was limited to the downstairs apartment bedroom, according to officials, however there was some smoke damage upstairs.

The Red Cross was contacted to provide assistance to the displaced residents.

Officials said the Assistant Fire Marshal Tracy Summar was called to the scene to conduct a routine investigation.
