NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Malcolm Smith scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Lipscomb to a 79-72 victory over Kennesaw State on Thursday night in an Atlantic Sun Conference game.
Freshman center Stephen Hurt added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Bisons (8-11, 3-5), including a 3-point play and a jumper to start a 10-0 run that put them ahead to stay, 73-64, with 1:50 left. It was the game's 16th lead change.
The Owls (2-18, 1-7), who trailed 36-30 at halftime, shot 52.4% (11 of 21) in the second half to Lipscomb's 31.8% (7 of 22) but couldn't avoid their fifth consecutive loss.
Delbert Love scored 20 points for Kennesaw State and Aaron Anderson had 14 points and 13 rebounds for his seventh double-double this season.
Markeith Cummings, this week's Atlantic Sun Player of the Week, didn't play for the Owls due to a coach's decision.
